Welcome to Quest for the Crown™ - The National Step Championship. The national step championship is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2009, 7:00 PM at Ovens Auditorium in the beautiful "Queen City" of Charlotte, North Carolina. Join us to see the nation's top Greek step teams competing for the crown all on 1 grand stage, it's truly the best of the best!

Since the founding of the first historically black Greek-letter organization in 1906, the soulful art of "stepping" has been a time-honored tradition on campuses across the nation. Through rhythmic dance, song and speech, stepping connects African Americans to their early history in America and their roots in Africa. Stepping creates a medium through which black Greek-letter organizations honor their founders and communicate their guiding principles and social platforms. Today stepping, born out of the rites of passages of black Greek-letter organizations, is now practiced throughout the world.

StepNationals values the rich history and tradition of stepping and created the StepNationals Quest for the Crown™ Series to showcase this soulful art. In fact, the name, StepNationals, is in honor of the nine black Greek-letter organizations of the National Pan-Hellenic Council who created, embraced and upheld the legacy of stepping for decades.

Through the Quest for the Crown™ Series, StepNationals strives to achieve the following objectives:

  • Gain exposure for black Greek-letter organizations on a national stage through exciting media programs, new media partnerships, and the inclusion of celebrity talent

  • Showcase exhilarating characteristics of Greek life, the college experience and exemplify the obligation of scholastic achievement

The StepNationals Quest for the Crown™ Series will bring a colorful mixture of noted personalities, black Greek-letter organizations and the community, both nationally and locally. These competitions foster creativity, showmanship, scholastic achievement, and community involvement.

The StepNationals Quest for the Crown™ Series features a national championship step show. Each team consisting of a minimum of five (5) and maximum of thirty (30) will display choreographed steps, dance, speech and more. Trophies, cash prizes, and bragging rights will be adorned on the fraternity and sorority proving their style, precision, and creativity in an allotted time.

Step teams represented will include the elite from each of the respective historically black Greek-letter organizations:
